Coast Lacrosse Association Team Colors: Red, White & Gray
Tony’s Tavern Lacrosse Club is open to adults who are at least 18 years of age. Although sponsored by Tony’s Tavern, players are asked to pay annual dues to offset team supply costs. The fall season brings with it a few scrimmages, games and monthly practices with the primary GCLA season running from late January to the playoffs on the last week in April.
The team pulls its players from the Houston suburbs, ranging from Cy-Fair to Atascocita. The team competes in the Gulf Coast Association, with additional games against local colleges and Southwest Lacrosse Association (SWLA) teams scheduled to round out a 9-13 game schedule.
The GCLA provides the team a league to compete in which travel, and the time involved with it, is greatly reduced (most GCLA games are played within Houston). Although the team started as a club for fun and recreation, the team has evolved into competitive team, with many players with NCAA (Air Force,
Georgetown, Goucher, Roanoake, Limestone, Wingate, Towson, Stevens Tech, Yale, etc.) and MDIA (Texas A&M, Utah State,
Arizona, North Texas, Buffalo, LSU, etc.) pedigrees. Those interested players with prior lacrosse experience (NCAA, MDIA, or TX H.S.) should contact one of the officers on the contact page.
